When to… — Every Lawn Timing Question

Seven jobs where the calendar matters more than the technique. Each links to state-by-state dates drawn from NOAA 1991–2020 climate records.

Why timing beats technique

Most lawn jobs fail on the calendar, not in the execution. Pre-emergent that goes down a week after crabgrass germinates does nothing; seed sown into summer heat cooks; nitrogen applied as a northern lawn shuts down feeds disease instead of roots. And the right week for each of these is a local fact — driven by when your soil warms in spring and your first frost lands in fall, which NOAA has measured for decades. Pick a task above, then your state; or start from your ZIP code or your city's full calendar.
